A plant-care companion that guides beginner gardeners step by step — personalized routines, timely reminders, and bite-sized learning that turn "I might kill it" into "watch it grow."
The problem
Plenty of people want to garden — then reality hits. Conflicting advice online, care schedules that live in your head, and plants that quietly die because a watering was missed by three days.
In interviews and surveys, beginner gardeners kept describing the same overwhelm: too much information, none of it personal. Existing apps offered encyclopedias when what people needed was a guide — and forgot to remind them of the one thing that mattered today.
The design challenge became clear: how might we make plant care feel like growing with a friend, not studying for an exam?
The process
Four phases, with gardener feedback shaping every decision along the way.

Define — personas
Mentee and mentor proto-personas kept the design honest — every screen had to work for a beginner asking "am I doing this right?" and a mentor with limited time to give.
Define — architecture & flow
The sign-up and mentorship journey, then the full app's information architecture — so every screen that came after had a reason to exist.
Design — wireframes & system
Low-fidelity wireframes tested the flow cheaply; the design system that followed kept color, type, and components consistent from onboarding to dashboard.
Key insight
— synthesis from interviews & surveys with beginner gardeners
The solution
Three ways Guidly turns plant care from overwhelming into doable.
