PhysioCare — recovery that doesn't feel lonely.

A mobile health app that supports patients through physiotherapy at home — visual exercise guidance, gentle reminders, and progress in small daily wins, so recovery feels guided instead of solitary.

The problem

Home exercises are easy to skip — and easy to get wrong.

Research made it clear that at-home physiotherapy fails for reasons that are both practical and emotional. Patients skipped exercises because of hectic routines, and many admitted they simply lacked the motivation to stay consistent.

Text-based instructions made it worse — they caused confusion, led to improper technique, and increased the risk of injury. And most of all, patients said they felt isolated, missing the reassurance and feedback they get in an in-person session.

That shaped the mission: create a digital companion that doesn't just instruct, but supports.

The process

Listening before designing.

Four phases in one month, with people in recovery shaping each step.

Define — user flows

Seven journeys, one recovery.

Onboarding, daily exercise, reminders, progress, milestones, reaching a physiotherapist, and settings — mapped as flows first, so every screen had a clear job in the patient's day.

Design — wireframes & brand

Low fidelity first, then a brand built on warmth.

Greyscale wireframes in Figma settled the onboarding and goal-setting flow. The PhysioCare identity followed — soft colors, rounded shapes, and Poppins for calm, approachable type instead of cold clinical language.

Key insight

"Recovery isn't only physical. Patients needed a companion that makes them feel understood — not just a tool that tells them what to do."

— synthesis from surveys & empathy interviews with people recovering from injury and chronic pain

The solution

Guidance, habit, and a human touch.

Three ways PhysioCare keeps patients moving between visits.

Impact & next steps

More confident patients, better-informed therapists.

Test users said they felt more confident in their recovery and valued a tool that was structured but flexible. Seeing progress as small daily wins kept them going, and the motivational messages and reminders eased feelings of frustration and loneliness.

Physiotherapists we consulted saw value in the progress logs, which let them monitor adherence and adjust plans between sessions.

Next, PhysioCare could grow into a full-circle recovery platform with video teleconsultations, deeper symptom analytics, and a stronger community experience.
